Dar ritual

At the Berlin Cemevi, the Alevi house of worship, we hold the “Dârdan İndirme Cemi”, also known as the “Dâr Erkanı” (Dar ritual), which carries deep meaning within the religious traditions of the Alevi community and takes place after our loved ones have passed on to Hak (God). This cem is a process of reckoning and seeking mutual forgiveness with those left behind, carried out through the relatives or the musahip of the deceased, so that the soul of the person who has died may find peace. At the heart of this ceremony are a review of the relationships the deceased had with others during their lifetime and the settling of any outstanding claims and debts, including emotional ones.

The “Dâr Erkanı” also aims to heal any rifts that may have arisen during the lifetime of the deceased and to ensure unity and solidarity within the community. At the Berlin Cemevi, we perform this special, spiritual Cem with the respect befitting the faith and customs of our congregation, so that everyone may attain eternal peace with the support and prayers of our community.
